Metal Hydride Hydrogen Storage and Purification Devices


Basic Principle

Metal hydride hydrogen storage and purification device is through absorbing hydrogen from low purity hydrogen to form metal hydrides, utilizing the alternative hydrogen-absorbing ability of hydrogen storage alloys. Then, the gaseous impurities concentrated in the device are blew away by hydrogen, Finally, the purity of hydrogen in the device is improved.
This device is composed of two identical hydrogen purifiers, in order to achieve continuous purification of hydrogen. The diagram is shown in Fig. 1:


This device can achieve sustainable work through the following process:
(1) hydrogen absorbing of hydrogen purifier Ⅰ: hydrogen with low purity is flew into the hydrogen purifierⅠ, meanwhile, putting the normal temperature water into water jacket (indicated by blue dotted line) . Then the hydrogen purifierⅠ begins to absorb hydrogen.
(2) hydrogen desorbing of hydrogen purifierⅠ, and hydrogen absorbing of hydrogen purifier II: hydrogen purifierⅠ releases gaseous impurities after absorbing hydrogen, then high temperature water is putted into the water jacket (indicated by red dotted line), and hydrogen purifierⅠbegins to release high purity hydrogen. At the same time, hydrogen with low purity is flowed into hydrogen purifier II, and hydrogen purifier II begins to absorb hydrogen.
(3) hydrogen desorbing of hydrogen purifier II, and hydrogen absorbing of hydrogen purifier Ⅰ: when hydrogen desorbing process of hydrogen purifierⅠ completes, hydrogen absorbing process of hydrogen purifier II completes too. Then, put high temperature water into the water jacket of hydrogen purifier II, and it begins to desorb hydrogen. At same time, hydrogen with low purity is flowed into hydrogen purifierⅠ, and it begins to absorb hydrogen. By absorbing and desorbing hydrogen of two hydrogen purifiers alternate with each other, it could achieve continuous purification of hydrogen.

This product is made of stainless steel material, during the running, normal temperature water bath with 20 ~ 30℃ and high temperature water bath with 50 ~ 60℃ are needed. The purity of hydrogen can be purified up to 99.999% by this device. It is worth noting that there could not contain some gases in raw gas, such as H2O, O2, H2S, NO, SO2, Cl2, and CO, which can make the hydrogen-storage alloys inside the devices lost activity. Several common specifications of the products are listed in the following table, and we can customize products according to the requirements of customers.
Properties and applications
The metal hydride hydrogen storage and purification device is a multipurpose hydrogen storage and purification device, which can be used in hydrogen storage and transportation. In electronics and the electric power industry, it can be used to purify the hydrogen to realize recycles. This device can also be used in hydrogen-containing tail gas recovery, purification and reuse, which is one of the effective means of enterprise energy saving and emission reduction. Our metal hydride hydrogen storage and purification device has also been successfully applied in the production of integrated circuits and semiconductors, powder metallurgy, heat treatment, and other aspects.
